With ever-increasing consumer prices are putting a heavier burden on people in Korea, President Lee Myung-bak is asking his economic policymakers to put top priority on containing inflation. “We should set up measures to contain the rising prises of utilities and daily necessities.” Lee said to his to his top aides in Seoul last Friday. Lee Seong-tae, Governor of Bank of Korea, predicted that inflation is likely to remain at high levels though the first half of this year.
